ABOUT ME

Mafalda Rodrigues BA (Hons) RAD RTS

I'm Mafalda, a ballet teacher that loves classical dance, classical music, all dancing styles and art in all its forms. Rudolf Nureyev is my ballet idol, Sir Ken Robinson, my reference in education, and Alfonso Lopez Quintás, my spirit inspiration.

I am a Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Registered Teacher and hold the Teaching Diploma from the Royal Opera House and The Royal Ballet School. I am an experienced teacher with children and adults and I love what I do - I love to inspire people's lives with art.

To young children, I introduce the world of ballet in an imaginative way through adventures and creative classes where play has a central role. In all we do, vital human values are present. To me it is of utmost importance that children grow into healthy and good persons while learning ballet.

As children grow, it is extremely important that they learn about ballet history, famous ballets, famous dancers, the theatre etc. I work for children to see ballet as a present, close and inspiring world that they are part of.

Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus Classes and Exams

I am delighted I have been appointed Royal Academy of Dance Registered Teacher and I am now offering RAD syllabus classes and entering students for exams.

The Royal Academy of Dance is a highly respectable and trustworthy organisation worldwide, focused on developing the highest standards in dance education. The RAD syllabus is considered the best structured ballet syllabus in the world for children in ballet classes as extra activity.

The RAD syllabus is great for children to learn ballet with a structure and the possibility to develop further their training. The exams are fantastic to develop discipline, responsibility and confidence, while working towards a goal and a sense of achievement.

With adults I work to inspire their daily lives with the beauty of an art form that for most was asleep or unknown. Adults can also enter for RAD exams. We have a new dance fitness class for adults that I absolutely love to do. It is not possible to dance and not feel joy.

I organise an extensive programme outside classes, such as trips to see a ballet or take part in a ballet-related event; I want people to actively engage with the professional world of ballet and dance. I feel great pleasure in bringing the magic of this beautiful art form to children, their families and adult learners.

In the past, I have worked with the English National Ballet School, The Ballet School Notting Hill, Mandeville Primary School, and other private and primary schools in London and Portugal.

I have gained professional experience with The Royal Ballet School and the Learning and Participation department of the Royal Opera House, whose standards everyday inform my practice.

Classes are held at the Hackney Forge in Victoria Park Village and the Central Foundation Girl's School, in Bow, East London.

Do not hesitate to contact to book a taster class. I look forward to seeing you there!

Mafalda
