We have a new Dance Fitness Class for adults > see Dance Fitness Class

Did you always want to do ballet? Have you tried ballet in childhood and would you like to return to it? This class is for you.

Learn ballet technique and repertoire and develop your dance skills in a supportive environment.

With ballet, you develop strength, flexibility and muscular tone together with grace and elegance. You improve your posture, coordination and control of your body.

Ballet exercises are set to combinations of music, adding a level of mental exercise that is different to other forms of fitness. Also, the emotional value of moving to music is incalculable.

The Benefits:
  • flexibility
  • strength
  • muscular tone
  • posture
  • coordination
  • awareness of body in space
  • grace
  • confidence
  • self-expression
  • artistry
  • body and brain workout
  • stamina and well-being

Who are the classes for?

The classes are for men and women of all ages and body shapes. Don't be shy - you can start learning ballet from whatever age, everybody can dance!

What level are the classes?

This is a beginner/general level class for adults with little or no experience. If you have previous experience, you can revive and improve your skills.

What will I learn?

You learn ballet technique, dancing sequences and repertoire. You will also learn about ballet history and artistry.

We explore the foundation ballet steps, demystify ballet terminology and the technique is put into practice in simple choreography pieces.

Mafalda's teachings are informed by her extended experience with The Royal Ballet School and the Royal Opera House and their teaching methods.

What should I wear?

You should proper ballet clothing and ballet shoes. I can advise on what ballet clothing and shoes to buy. If you have ballet clothing, please do bring it.

The class attire is important to place our mind in the ballet learning environment; shoes are the most important item.

What is the group's size?

The group size is max. 15 people for everybody to receive plenty of personal attention and support. Participants achieve rewarding results every week.

Teaching goes beyond the studio

At the end of the academic year, students are invited to participate in the school's end of the year show. See our Still Life at the Penguin Café show, where adult students participated.
