CHILDREN CLASSES

- BOOKINGS FOR AUTUMN TERM 2019 NOW OPEN -

Our classes introduce the world of ballet to children aged 2½ and up.

Young children learn the fundamentals of ballet in a creative and imaginative way through play, exploring stories and imaginary places. Children learn ballet through play. In our classes imagination transcends into a reality where the magic of ballet happens.

Children gradually deepen their learning on ballet technique with a stimulating approach, developing self-expression and performance skills. Children develop physical skills such as posture, grace, coordination, musicality, as well as respect, sociability and good manners.

More importantly perhaps, with our ballet classes children develop important skills for life such as discipline, commitment, responsibility and work ethics, growing healthier into fulfilled individuals.

With our classes, ballet and dance become an integral part of students' lives, it is a comprehensive, humanistic and unique artistic experience.

RAD - Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus

From 5 years old (Reception/Year 1), students start to learn the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus from Pre-Primary in Dance level to develop further their technique and training with a structured curriculum. For more information, visit the Royal Academy of Dance website.

From this stage onwards, in our classes students also deepen their learning in ballet history, famous dancers, ballet productions, learn about composers, choreography, and develop their creativity and artistry.

Creative Workshops

Throughout the year we offer creative and family workshops where children learn about famous ballets through storytelling, dance and crafts, creating their own props to take home. See a previous Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Family Workshop.

Families and the Participation in the Professional World of Ballet

In our school, we encourage parents and children to dance together and bond as a family. Parents are invited to dance with their child in some classes and at the end of the year show.

It is a fun and playful moment that you share with your child. You take part in something that is theirs - their dance, their class, which is very important for their confidence. It is a blissful family bonding moment where adults are allowed to play.

Throughout the year, parents and students are encouraged to participate in the professional world of ballet. We organise trips for families to attend performances and to participate in professional ballet companies-related activities. The experience and the beauty of ballet as an art form is enjoyable and enriching. End of the Year Show

Our school offers a show at the end of each academic year. Family and friends of all classes are invited to see the work developed throughout the year culminating in a creative performance. It is a lifetime experience for all children.

The show takes places in a theatre. To take part in the show, there is a participation fee per student and audience tickets are sold.

Costumes
The costumes for our show use to be made creatively at home by parents and children, or are to be purchased.

Should costumes be made creatively at home, guidelines are given according to your child's performance. The specific guidelines may include colours, materials and/or any specific element/prop to use and families create their own version of the costume.

Costumes of a class are expected to be all different but work together as a group following the guidelines. Parents or responsible carer must be present and meet with the teacher in class in the date set to discuss costumes specifications.

To participate in the show, full commitment from parents and students is required.

It is mandatory that all students attend the general rehearsal day with fully finished costumes and do not miss classes in the summer term.

Guidance dates for our show 2020 are set - see Timetable.
